Publication Ethics

JEPTIRA is a scientific journal of community service that publishes original articles on community service activities and applications as well as other developments in the fields of technology, economics and humanities. All published articles have gone through a review process by peer reviewers and editing by the executive editor. This journal follows the guidelines Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) COPE ethical editing ,  COPE's Ethical guide for peer reviewers ,  COPE's ethical guide of misconduct, & Best practice guide in dealing with all aspects of publication ethics, especially how to handle cases of research and publication errors of community service results. This scientific publication ethics statement is a statement of the code of ethics of all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely managers, editors, bestari partners, and authors. The Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications essentially upholds three ethical values ​​in publication, namely (i) Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (ii) Justice, which is giving authorship rights to those entitled as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publication.

Journal Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Determine the journal name, scope of science, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
  2. Determine the membership of the editorial board.
  3. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
  4. Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors/writers, editors, and peer reviewers.
  5. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
  6. Conduct journal policy reviews and convey them to authors/writers, editorial boards, peer reviewers, and readers.
  7. Create a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers.
  8. Publish journals regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
  10. Build cooperation and marketing networks.
  11. Prepare licensing and other legal aspects.

Editor's Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Improving the quality of publications.
  2. Guaranteeing the process to maintain the quality of published papers.
  3. Leading freedom in expressing opinions.
  4. Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record.
  5. Delivering corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies if necessary.
  6. Having the responsibility to organize and format the paper, while the contents and any statements in the paper are the responsibility of the author.
  7. Assessing the policies and attitudes of the journal published by the author and peer review to increase responsibility and minimize errors.
  8. Having an open-minded personality in accepting new opinions or views of others that differ from their personal opinions.
  9. Prohibiting in maintaining our own opinions, authors or third parties that can result in wrong decisions.
  10. Encouraging authors to make improvements to the written work until it is worthy of publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Bestari Partners

  1. Receive assignments from the editor to review written works and submit the results of the review to the editor, as a material for determining the suitability of a written work for publication.
  2. Reviewers may not conduct reviews of written works that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Maintain the privacy of the author by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
  4. Encourage authors/writers to improve written works.
  5. Review revised written works in accordance with predetermined standards.
  6. Written works are reviewed in a timely manner according to the style of the publication environment based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc).

Duties and Responsibilities of Author/Writer

  1. Ensure that those included in the list of authors/writers meet the criteria as authors/writers.
  2. Collectively responsible for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  3. State the source of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
  4. Explain the limitations of the research.
  5. Respond to comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
  6. Inform the editor if you will withdraw your paper.
  7. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.
